I have heard of lots of sailing vessels being demasted, through I have never heard of one being de-boomed. The Sailing yacht Nashra II departed Halifax on Saturday (I believe), but was back by this morning with half a Boom, the other half having been violently torn off.

Pangaea has arrived safe and sound in one of the friendliest Ports in the world Halifax NS Canada after a rough ride. Catching up with some of our student Explorers, looking at future projects, and a small technical reparation to be done.
Shes Currently anchored off the St Marys Boat Club in the Arm.
Every 2 years, the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, and the Boston yach club hold a race form marblehead to Halifax. the Bulk of the Racers finished yesterday, with the fastest boats arriving Monday.
Some of them have tied up in the Harbour.
Not sure if this last one (below) raced.

Probably unknown to most, Halifax has a Fero-cement Sailboat.
Sailing vessel Lola was being sailed, by Maarten Klinkenbijl, Danielle Stolwijk thier Son (born on the trip) and cat. They have a website about thier journey from Holland, Around the world, and finally up to halifax.

The french sail training vessel Rara Avis put into port this afternoon. She was built in 1957, and does regual cross-atlantic Journeys.
You can find her on the Waterfront By the Visitor Center.
