Fairlift Delivers to Stena Icemax

_MG_6662The Heavy lift vessel Fairlift made a quick stop at pier 31 today. She reportedly delivered something to the Stenna Icemax, now located off the Shelburne Basin. Jumbo Shipping does offer subsea installation as one of their services, so its possible the ship delivered something to the seabed, rather then to the ship itself.

In other Icemax news, the CNSOPB gave shell permission to start drilling again.

Jumbo Shipping FairLift

Jumbo Shipping’s Heavy lift vessel FairLift arrived this morning at Pier 30. I suspect she is discharging cargo, as their was nothing obvious for her to pick up on the pier. (Though there were some Mammoet heavy transport chassis on the pier the other day.)

Jumbo Shipping is also a regular caller in Halifax, (Past Visits) however they have dropped off since CAT shut the EMD plant in London ONT, and locomotives are no longer exported.

Forward is Nirint Holandia, a regular caller in Halifax.

Fairlane

Jumbo Shipping’s heavy lift Vessel Fairlane is due at Pier 30 Tomorrow Morning. Jumbo Shipping is a regular caller in Halifax (usually at Pier 9) to load Locomotives bound for Europe. The Differences between European and North American Railways couldn’t be more evident as the load was spotted on Pier 30 this morning. Besides the shape of the locomotives, the different couplers are in evidence, as special adapter cars are required to mate the load with Canadian Equipment. These cars also carry the lifting arms used to lift the cars into the ship.

When Fairlane arrives tomorrow, she will also be carrying Fjord Éternité, an East Isle built tug, bound for Rio Tinto Alcan’s Operations in La Baie. Here is a shot from MarineTraffic.com to whet your apatite.

Update Fairlane is now Due Today at 14:30 to pier 27
