French Warship FS Aquitaine visits Halifax

Today brought the arival of the French Warship FS Aquitaine. The Aquitaine is the first of a new class of warship, and is on a long cruise as part of her trials. Her previous stop was in Norfolk Virgina.

The FREMM European multimission frigate is a joint build program with France and Italy as initial buyers/developers. Between them, 21 FREMM frigates will be built. An Addtional Frigate for Moroco will be delivered this year.

USS DeWert Paid A Visit

The US Navy Warship USS DeWert Paid a brief visit to Halifax Yesterday. She had Embarked on a Summer Great Lakes Tour with HMCS Ville De Quebec and USS Huricane.

She appears to have departed early, skipping the Final Canadian Stops. The Tour is Expected to End October 3 when the Ville De Quebec (And presumabley USS Huricane) return to Halifax.

USS Fort Worth LCS-3

USS Fort Worth arrived this morning and is tied up at “Navy B”, She was built in Wisconsen, and is headed to Texas to be Commissioned.

Update Aug 20:
She is scheduled to Depart at 1500 today.

UPDATE 2: She Failed to Sail as Scheduled. Tim Colton at Maritime Memo’s reports “The word is that LCS 3’s main propulsion diesels are out of action and she’s running on her gas turbines”

Her Stay in Halifax may have been extended due to the propulsion problems.
