Bigroll Beaufort is still in the outer anchorage of Halifax, likely waiting on her next assignment. Today was a nice clear day, so she was well visible.

Vole Au Vent
the offshore wind installation vessel Vole au Vent arrived this morning, and tied up at Irving oil for bunkers. the ship will then move to Woodside this afternoon to load the base pieces for installation.
The pieces arrived several weeks ago aboard the Bigroll Beaufort. the installation is taking place off the Coast of Virginia, and is staging out of Halifax to work around US cabotage laws. Vole au Vent will make several trips, to install the Bases, Towers and turbines.
UPDATE May 18:
the ship is now jacked up and in position. Im told the Installation will happen in three trips, first the bases, then the Towers, then finally the top assemblies.

Bigroll Beaufort at Woodside

Bigroll Beaufort.
Arriving late this afternoon is the the Bigroll Beaufort, loaded with 2 offshore wind turbines for the CVOR, or Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project. The ship will be tieing up at Woodside.
To get around the US Jones act, the Turbine equipment will be delivered to Halifax, where it will be loaded on the Installation vessel Vole au Vent, to then be taken to the installation site off the Virginia Coast. Vole au Vent is still in Rotterdam.
The Jones act is a piece of US legislation that requires any transport of goods between US ports to be done on US Built, Crewed and Flagged ships. Currently there are no US Offshore Wind installation vessels.

“Dominion Energy and Ørsted announced today the turbine components and monopiles for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) pilot project have started their journey to North America.
The foundations, consisting of the turbines’ monopiles, transition pieces and anode cages fabricated by EEW SPC, have been loaded onto the Bigroll Beaufort cargo ship in Rostock, Germany. The components for the two, 6-megawatt Siemens Gamesa turbines were loaded in Esbjerg, Denmark, before the vessel embarked in mid-April on the approximately two-week transatlantic journey to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Installation of the two turbines, located 27 miles offshore, is expected to begin later this spring and they are expected to enter service by the end of the year.”
Crane Ship Thialf
The worlds second largest crane ship Thialf arrived in the approaches last night after 33 days at sea. the Vessel sailed from Amsterdam, and will be used to remove the Sable Island Offshore Gas field production platforms.
The 2 cranes are able to lift a combined 14,200 tons.
Jumbo Delivers New Work Boat
The Jumbo Shipping vessel Stellaprima arrived today at pier 9 to unload a work-boat.
The Dominion Warrior is being brought over from Gibraltar. Built as Coastal Warrior, and purchased by Dominion Diving, the work boat is barge like in appearance with a small superstructure and large work area. A Common vessel layout in Europe, these type of work-boats are uncommon in Canadian waters.
Jack Up Drill Rig Noble Regina Allen arrives on Forte
After spending yesterday circling off the approcahes due to high winds, the Forte pulled into anchorage 1 this morning with the Jack up Rig Noble Regina Allen aboard. In the coming days she will be floated off, and likely jack up off Woodside.
The Noble Regina Allen will be used to decommission the Sable offshore gas field, and capping the wells. the work is expected to take up to two years.
Submersible Heavy lift ship Forte Due with drill rig
Currently scheduled to arrive at noon, the Dockwise semi-submersible heavy lift ship Forte is scheduled to arrive this afternoon with the Jack-up rig Noble Regina Allen.
she will likely anchor in anchorage 1, south of Georges Island for the offload.
The Noble Regina Allen will be employed to Decommission the Sable offshore Gas Field.
UPDATE: She is now due 0700 tomorrow. A tall load and strong winds likely made harbour entry ill advised. She is However slowely circling off the pilot station.
Shiping Ships
This Morning Ferry passengers began tweeting Photos of the BigLift vessel Happy River, heading for the Basin with a Ship on Deck. Happy River tied up at Fairview Cove.
The Boat is a Corvette of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, and is bound for Daemons Netherlands Shipyard. recall that Biglift brought the Tops of Atlantic Towing’s new Platform Supply Vessels along with several containers of equipment. Its likely that the Happy River stopped to pick up those containers for the return trip to the shipyard.

Fairlift Delivers to Stena Icemax
The Heavy lift vessel Fairlift made a quick stop at pier 31 today. She reportedly delivered something to the Stenna Icemax, now located off the Shelburne Basin. Jumbo Shipping does offer subsea installation as one of their services, so its possible the ship delivered something to the seabed, rather then to the ship itself.
In other Icemax news, the CNSOPB gave shell permission to start drilling again.
