the Alliance announced the AL 1 service will drop Bremerhavan, and begin calling in Hamburg starting with the January 6 trip of YM Express.
they also announced the addition of a ship to the route to smooth over winter delays. Announced today, the changes have not yet been reflected in the Public Schedule.
Alexandra arrived this evening to Fairview cove. The ship is running on the Alliances EC5 Service. She arrived from Norfolk, and will sail from Halifax for Jebel Ali (Dubai, UAE) arriving on November 15th.
This is the normal Rotation for the EC5 Service.
The Alliance has dropped Halifax from its AL6 service effective December.
Changes announced on the 26th, have a new routing of La Spezia –Genoa –Fos – Barcelona – Valencia – New York – Norfolk – Savannah – Miami – Algeciras –La Spezia.The New service will be combined with the Oceans Alliance Amerigo Service, and each alliance will provide 3 8000TEU vessels for a total of 6 in rotation.
Since the Service began in summer of 2017, the routing has been Salerno – Livorno – La Spezia – Genoa – Fos Sur Mer – Halifax – New York – Norfolk – Savannah – Salerno and is served by 5 smaller K-Line vessels (Brevick Bridge, Budapest Bridge, Berlin Bridge, Bilbao Bridge, and Brotonne Bridge) at Fairvew Cove.
ZIM markets the AL6 service as ZCI, and in a strengthening of the alliance, will be adding the Livorno stop to its ZCA Service which already calls in Halifax, and is now being Marketed by the Alliance as AL7. In the end, while this represents a loss of a weekly call to Halifax, the total TEU’s will likely remain the same.

Bilbao Bridge and MOL Partner spent the morning at Fairview Cove. Both vessels represent 2/3s of ONE – the New shipping line that is the Merger of NYK, MOL and K-Lines container businesses.
Bilbao Bridge, Serving The Alliances AL6 service (below) was scheduled to sail at Noon, but didn’t get away until after 1pm.
MOL Partner, operating on The Alliances’ EC5 service, is not scheduled to depart until this evening.
At Halterm, Skogafoss is spending the day, scheduled to Sail at 16:30, along with Asian Sun for Tropical Shipping. The Car Carrier MONZA anchored for Gypsy moth Inspection, before moving to Autoport for 1pm.
Mol Partner sits at anchor in the basin waiting for a birth to free up at Fairview Cove.
Despite today being a holiday, the ships were stacking up at Fairview cove. Sunday night brought the arrival of YM Express to the west birth. She Sailed Monday morning, and was replaced by Budapest Bridge, while the east birth was taken up by Atlantic Sea, both arriving early morning. When Budapest Bridge sailed late afternoon, MOL Partner was finally able to take up her spot Mol Partner is currently scheduled to sail just after midnight, Atlantic Sea is due to depart Tuesday afternoon, having had her ro-ro decks worked Monday, and her containers Tuesday.
Priority Tied up at Fairview Cove – Formerly the MOL Priority, her light blue hull was painted over. Built in 2002, shes sailing on the Alliance’s EC5 Service. She sailed for New York.
Maersk Palermo made the weekly Maersk call on Saturday. Given the Drugs found the previously on this route, Maersk Palermo was subject to inspection by the CBSA, and RCMP Dive Team. No word on if anything was found.
APL Vancouver also put in a first time call on CMA-CGM’s weekly service. Port Activities kept her well obstructed at pier 41.
Today brought 4 callers for Fairview Cove, though the last one will have to wait until morning. first to arrive was first time caller PAXI, who took the west end birth. an hour latter, Berlin Bridge arrived taking the east end of Fairview Cove.
Paxi is a first time caller to Halifax, and was built in 2014. she is scheduled to sail at 2230 tonight, in order to facilitate the arrival of Atlantic Sun in the West End Birth.
Atlantic Sun is scheduled to sail at 0430 tomorrow, making for a very quick stop.
Berlin bridge sailed in time for MOL Partners Arrival, though MOL Partners Size precludes calling at the east end birth. She took to Anchor, and will move to the west end birth at 6am after Atlantic Sun Sails.
Todays traffic was all regular callers.
