Biggest Container Ship Yet, And First 10,000+ TEU

This morning brought the arrival of the ZIM Antwerp – the Largest container ship to call at the Port to date. At 10064 TEU, she beats the previous record by 700TEU. She also brought record crowds to watch her arrival – The Largest by a very very wide margin.

On Arrival, she rotated in the Approaches and backed in offering excellent views of her size. The Vera D entered the harbour just ahead of her, but proceeded north of Georges to stay out of the way, and tied up after ZIM Antwerp was backed into pier 41.
