ACL G4 #3 Atlantic Sea

The third ACL G4 vessel Atlantic sail has made a few trips to Halifax, but I wasen’t able to get a picture of her until yesterday. The 2 remaining g4 vessels apper to be complete, but are still at the shipyard and have not been delivered. the First, Atlantic Star, has also been drydocked within the last week, just short of 1 year after her maiden voyage in April 2016.  ACL Parent Company Grimaldi groups (the G on the funnel is for them) ship Grande Dakar is filling in, and sailed for Halifax from Liverpool England this morning.

Tug Genesis Victory and barge GW6506

Appearing to be loaded, and arriving from Texas, the Articulated Tug and barge Genesis Victory / GW6506 likely is waiting in the basin to offload at one of the terminals in Halifax. there are currently 6 Oil terminals in the Port. the First is the Tufts Cove Power plant, the Second is Wilson’s Fuel at Pier 9.

Irving has revamped their wharf at woodside, and is now accepting their own product. Imperial oil is still operating their terminal on the refinery site, McAsphalt industries operates a wharf in eastern passage to accept liquid asphalt products, and Valero has their wharf in Eastern Passage.

Issac Newton overwinters.

The cable layer Isaac Newton has spent the winter in Halifax. She arrived in the fall after working on laying new power transmission cables to PEI. the Ice came before the work was complete and she sailed for Halifax, and spent the winter at Pier 9. Last week she sailed to Mahone Bay for trials, and spent some time in the basin doing ROV workups, before returning to pier 9.

She applied for a Costing trade license for the time period between March 15 to June 15, so she is likely waiting for the ice to clear.

The former trawler Cape Chidley, was laid up in Lunenburg for a number of years. She was modified, and renamed Yacht Hop, and Sailed South.
She has apparently broke free in late February and is now aground on the beach.
