MSC Angela was making heaving smoke on Departure from PSA Halifax this afternoon. The ship had a thick stream of white smoke coming from its stack, which had dissipated somewhat by the time the ship got underway.

Oceanex Sanderling hung out at anchor with two MSC Vessels tying up PSA Halifax.(Below) Oceanex Sanderling moved to pier 41 this morning for her normal Friday Call.
MSC Veronique at pier 42 moved to pier 36, where she remains today (Below). MSC Mediterranean, at Pier 41, sailed this morning.
A Sunday call for MSC Annick (at Pier 41) and Maersk Palermo.
Both ships call on Montreal where due to a questionable labour situation, Container volumes were down 10% in March. This led to the Employers association revoking some pay guarantees, which looks to have goaded the union into a limited labour action – the details of which will be announced at a press conference Monday afternoon.
Arriving early this afternoon, MSC Eleni arrived from Portugal. The ship is rated for 5000TEU, and will be headed for Montreal, before stopping back in Halifax on her way back to Europe.
MSC Recently announced that Halifax would be added as an inbound and outbound port on the Canada Express 2 service. MSC had been making 1 call per week on a trial basis since last years strike at the port of Montreal, and recently began the double call prior to the official announcement.
This weeks caller for MSC is the MSC Poh Lin. The call is also notable as the walkway onto the pier expansion is now open, and is wonderful.
The MSC Poh Llin was built in 2004, and carries 4862teu. She is tentatively scheduled to sail at 13:00 Tuesday.
The Strike in Montreal ended with a 7 month truce this past Sunday. Several ships at anchor departed and sailed for Montreal. Genoa Express (above) hung on, and completed cargo work before sailing. Quebec express also hung around, and is currently at the pier at Fairview Cove (below).
MSC Brianna called this week, as the first stop of a 6 month contract for 2500teu/per week to come to Halifax. this is new business, and may be a hedge against winter delays and further labour action.
Genoa Express is at Fairview Cove.
MSC Ela took to the outer anchorage on the 16th
Quebec Express arrived on the 19th,and dropped the hook in the outer anchorage.
Ortolan Gamma due on the 20th,
MSC Annick is due on the 22nd, having sailed from Montreal.
OOCL Montreal is due the 28th
MSC Brianna is due the 31st.
