As you have noticed, I have Live AIS Coverage of the Harbour.
The web interface is provided by marinetraffic.com, which is sent Via Siitech’s VTSLite, from a AIS receiver I have..
I have recently moved the receiver from The office, to the bedroom, and can now see all the way to the Pilot station off Chebucto Head.
If someone has a larger antenna they are not using, i would love to see if I can improve coverage even more.
Today, Harbour Development Placed the Dredging Barge over Purdy’s Shoal to remove it. The shoal Became A hazard to shipping since the dockyard installed its force protection boom, moving the shipping lane east, and over the shoal.
Reports to VTS indicate the barge will be on station until march.
Currently Tied up at Pier 9, Brand Spanking new.

“HALIFAX, NS – Algoma Tankers newest fleet member arrived in North America early Monday after traveling from Turkey where it was recently completed.
“The vessel arrived at the Port of Halifax today after a fairly uneventful winter crossing,” said Catherine Calvert of Algoma Tankers via email today. “She of course experienced some heavy weather (throughout the trip).”
Algocanada is scheduled to come into service once some final items are attended to in Halifax. The vessel will then begin work in the Atlantic East Coast and Great Lakes regions.
No formal dedication ceremony is planned at this time.”
