The US Navy Warship USS DeWert Paid a brief visit to Halifax Yesterday. She had Embarked on a Summer Great Lakes Tour with HMCS Ville De Quebec and USS Huricane.
She appears to have departed early, skipping the Final Canadian Stops. The Tour is Expected to End October 3 when the Ville De Quebec (And presumabley USS Huricane) return to Halifax.
USS Fort Worth arrived this morning and is tied up at “Navy B”, She was built in Wisconsen, and is headed to Texas to be Commissioned.
Update Aug 20:
She is scheduled to Depart at 1500 today.
UPDATE 2: She Failed to Sail as Scheduled. Tim Colton at Maritime Memo’s reports “The word is that LCS 3’s main propulsion diesels are out of action and she’s running on her gas turbines”
Her Stay in Halifax may have been extended due to the propulsion problems.
The US Coast Guard is taking part in Operation Nanook. The USCG sea going buoy tender USCGC Juniper arrived in Halifax today to take part.
Danish forces are reportedly also taking part.

The USS Fort Worth is the US Navy’s newest Littoral Combat Ship. Built at Marinette Marine in Wisconsin on the Great lakes, She is now headed to Texas for commisioning.
When the USS Freedom was Launched at the same yard, she paid a visit to Halifax on her way to Norfolk. We may get another visit

The US Coast Guard Cutter Reliance arrived for a visit this morning. She will be joined tommorow by the USNS Grapple returning from Quebec.
USNS Grapple Returns for a brief visit on the third. She was recently recovering remains from a US Seaplane that crashed during the Second World War.
The USCGC Reliant is due for a visit tomorow on the Second.
HMCS Ville De Quebec, USS De Wert and USS Hurricane departed this morning for a 10 week great lakes Tour. HMCS Moncton and HMCS Summerside will also be in the Lakes this Summer, and will appear at a few dates. The Ships will return to Halifax in October, where they ill likely be open to the public.

USCGC Eagle Arrived yesterday morning. She was Saluted by Firebird as she rounded Georges Island.
Yesterday saw the arrival of the USS De Wert (Above, An Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate) and USS Hurricane (A Coastal Patrol Boat), who will be embarking on a great lakes tour with HMCS Ville de Quebec. USS Scranton, A Los Angeles Class Submarine also Arrived, and Tied up a Shearwater.
The French Naval Tug Malabar (A664) arrived for a visit this morning. No news on the reasons for the visit, though she is likely going to or returning from doing work in St Pierre Miquelon
