The cable ship resolute at anchor off the Herring Cove landing site. The cable has apparently been pulled onto land, and the shore based connections and testing are likely under way.

Cable Ship Resolute
the Cable Ship Resolute arrived at pier 25. She will be laying the Hibernia Express Cable. The Bow Crane if for an ROV, where the stern crane is used fro a cable plow, that will lay and bury the cable.
Hibernia Atlantic Cable Installation set to Begin
The Cable Ship Decisive is due to arrive at anchor today, Signalling the beginning of construction of the Hibernia Express Cable. Decisive has a costing trade license to do prework, including route clearance, before resolute comes to Lay the cable.
The General Cargo vessel Ocean Crescent Loaded cable handling equipment in February, and will presumably bring the cable back to Halifax, where it will be loaded aboard the Resolute for laying.
Hibernia Atlantic has a landing station in Herring Cove.

Hiberina Express Cable to be Installed in March/April
Having been announced, and in planning for the last 2-3 years, the Hibernia Express undersea cable is to start construction in March. the route was surveyed back in 2011
2 Coasting trade applications have been filed for Cable Vessels. the CS Deceive will be used to perform the route clearance, pre lay grapnel run and general support related to the supply and installation of the Hibernia Express Cable System. Her work is expected to begin March 10. the CS Resolute will be used to perform plowing, cable burial and testing related to the supply and installation of the Cable System.
Hibernia Express undersea cable is a transatlantic subsea fibre optic telecommunications cable system connecting points in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Cork Ireland and Brean, United Kingdom. The cable will be run from Hibernia Atlantic’s Landing Site is Herring Cove.
Cable Ship Ile De Sein
The Alcatel Lucent Cable Ship Ile De Sein arrived this morning and tied up at Pier 9. The IT Intrepid moved out and anchored in the Basin to make room at the pier. No coasting Licenses have been issued for her to work in Canadian waters, so this is likely a pre or post job stop.
Alcatel Lucent is the french Telco equipment manufacturer. Pier 9 rests across the narrows form the Old French Cable Wharf (Now DRDC Atlantic) Halifax Serves as the Main base for IT Telecoms 2 vessels IT Intrepid and IT Interceptor, and is a frequent stop over for others.
Cable Ship Rene Descartes
The French Cable ship Rene Descartes arrived in halifax for pier 9 today. She was last in Halifax in March of 2012. As a pure cable layer, she does not perform repair work.
IT Intrepid sails for NF
The cable ship IT Intrepid arrived back at Pier 9 yesterday and tied up along side IT Interceptor.(above)
She sailed tonight at 1900 for Newfoundland Where The ship will be used to recover and repair a broken fiber optic cable in the Cabot Strait, near Rosé Blanche.
Though owned by a Canadian firm, IT Telecom’s vessels are both registered in the Bahamas so a coasting license was required.
It Interceptor Returns
Cable Ship IT Interceptor returned from a cable repair in Cape Bretton yesterday. As she is registered in the Bahamas, a Coasting Permit was required, before she could perform the work. A coasting permit allows a non Canadian Flagged vessel to work in Canadian waters, when no suitable canadian vessel is available.

Cable Ship Responder
The Cable Ship Responder arrived today at noon, and docked at pier 9. One of TE Subcom’s Reliance class of Vessels, Her sister Tyco Resolute was the subject of an episode of Discovery’s Mighty Ships.
She is based in Baltimore. MD.
