Word from MARLANT is that the visiting US Sub is the USS Hampton. A Los Angeles Class Fast Attack Sub, She was launched in 1992, and is named after four cities: Hampton, Virginia; Hampton, Iowa; Hampton, South Carolina; and Hampton, New Hampshire.
She is Home-ported at Naval Base Point Loma in San Diego, and arrived after a 5 week deployment in the Arctic. She is tied up at Shearwater.
A US Navy Submarine is Due tomorrow Morning. The Pilotage Authority is listing it as a US Naval Vessel, and Since it is tying up at jetty NA (Shearwater) we know its a Nuclear Powered Vessel.

The virginia class attack sub uss New Mexico arrived this afternoon and tied up at shearwater. The sub based in Grotten CT, recently spent some time under the arctic ice including surfacing through the ice at a temporary base.
USS Nicholas (FFG-47)Put in to port today and headed right for the Oil dock at Imperial Oil for bunkers. this will be a short trip, she is shcheduled to depart later this afternoon.
USS Nicholas is a Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate, and was commisioned in 1983, and is named for Major Samuel Nicholas, the first commanding officer of the United States Marines. She is returning home from a deployment in the Medeterainian.

Frigate USS Nicholas is an Oliver Hazzard Perry Class vessel, and was recently deployed in the medeteraininan. She is shceduled to tie up directly at IOL, and depart after fueling.
USCGC Eagle, The US Coast Guards tall ship is due on the 19th.
The Coming days will bring 2 warship visits to Halifax.
The first will the German Navy Research vessel FGS Planet, Due to Arive on may 25th. Built as a Swath Design, She is incredibly stable in rought sea states. SWATH technology was developed by a Canadian, Frederick G. Creed in the 1930’s. The Canadian Coast Guard has a Research vessel (Its only swath Design) named after him. thanks to Seawaves for the tip.

The Second vessel, will be a US Navy vessel for the annual memorial day commemorations at deadmans Island, on May 27th.
UPDATE> RCN News Mag is reporting the Japanese navy is on another training tour, and will be visiting Halifax July 8-11.
HMCS Ville De Quebec is taking part in an composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Aircraft Carrier USS Harry Truman, as a memeber of the 1st Combined Destroyer Squadron (1CDS) 1CDS members currently include USS Barry (DDG 52), USS Gravely (DDG 107), the German ship FGS Hamburg (F220), and the Canadian ships HMCS Ville De Quebec (FFH 332) and HMCS Preserver (AOR 510); USS Monterey (CG 61), USS Gettysburg (CG 64), and USS Kauffman (FFG 59).
COMPTUEX is a series of training scenarios designed to certify HSTSG as a deployment-ready fighting force capable of completing operations in overseas theaters. The exercise will be evaluated and graded by Commander, Strike Force Training Atlantic (CSFTA) through warfare scenarios that will include simulated surface, air undersea, strike and electronic attacks.
In addition, events such as maritime interception operations (such as visit, board, search and seizure [VBSS]), live-fire evolutions, and strike group formations will also be assessed by CSFTA.

Four of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships from the Atlantic Fleet will be participating in a joint international exercise with the United States Navy from November 19 to December 14, off the East Coasts of Canada and United States called Task Group Exercise 6-12.
Royal Canadian Navy will work with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to combine the Task Group Exercise with the NORAD Air Defence Exercise Amalgam Dart to further enhance interoperability and effectiveness between the Royal Canadian Navy and NORAD. The high tempo training will provide valuable experience to our sailors in a wide range of at-sea evolutions, to include navigation and seamanship, helicopter operations, and warfare exercises. Furthermore, Amalgam Dart will provide an excellent opportunity to train in ship-to-air and air-to-air defence.
Units participating in Task Group Exercise 6-12 and Amalgam Dart are Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships Iroquois, Preserver, Ville de Quebec and St. John’s. The ships will be joined by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft and personnel from 12 Wing Shearwater, 14 Wing Greenwood, 17 Wing Winnipeg, 3 Wing Bagotville, and 22 Wing North Bay to include CH-124 Sea King helicopters, CF-18 fighters and a CP-140 Aurora long-range patrol aircraft.
The US Navy Warship USS DeWert Paid a brief visit to Halifax Yesterday. She had Embarked on a Summer Great Lakes Tour with HMCS Ville De Quebec and USS Huricane.
She appears to have departed early, skipping the Final Canadian Stops. The Tour is Expected to End October 3 when the Ville De Quebec (And presumabley USS Huricane) return to Halifax.
