After a layup since before christmas to repair a hole in her hull, Renate Schulte sailed this morning for Havana. She departed with the assistance of 2 tugs, which may suggest the bow thruster is still broken, however high winds would also indicate the use of tugs.

Hienrich J (below) Occupied Pier 42. She Appears to be unladden, so I would imagine she will be loading today. She waited out the Holiday yesterday at the dock. She and the Renate Schulte both sail for the Melfi Lines, But with Renate Schulte Damaged, She managed to catch up. She is scheduled to Sail Tomorrow. The third Melfi Ship VECHT TRADER is also due to arrive tommorow.
As depicted in the oil painting* Above, Novia arrived today for Melfi Lines. She is the ex Melfi Iberia, and is one of the ships replacing Teval and Marwan. Melfi Ibera was a Halifax Regular several years ago.

As reported in Early November, Melfi Lines Vessels Marwan and Teval are bound for the scrapers.
Thier replacements have appered on the Schedule.
Novia will appear for the first time on Dec 10, and will be followed on the 24th by Vecht Trader.

Thanks to Shipfax for the tip, 2 Halifax regulars, Teval and Marwan are headed to the scrappers.
Both vessels run on Melfi Lines’ service to Cuba from Europe and Canada. Melfi does not own the ships, but charters them from thier owners.
Expect to see 2 new vessels in the rotation shortly.

Melfi Marine to drop Hailfax port for Montreal
After almost 16 years Melfi Marine is dropping Halifax as a port of call in favour the Port of Montreal.

Pearl Seas Cruises said it had to cancel the remainder of the 2009 Eastern Canadian and St. Lawrence Seaway cruises because of deficiencies with the Pearl Mist recently discovered during sea trials, quality issues and construction delays.
