Tied up in Eastern Passage.

Yesterday brought the Car Carrier Suzuka Express. Operated by Vroon of the Netherlands, she was built in 2010 in Japan. Shes rated at just over 3900 cars, on 10 decks.

Torm Ragnhild also arrived yesterday. She anchored for Gypsy moth inspection, then moved to Imperial Oil to offload.

New Shuttle Tankers for Newfoundland

Teekay Offshore announced on June 1st, that it has entered into new long-term contracts with a group of companies that includes Chevron Canada, Husky Energy, Mosbacher Operating Ltd., Murphy Oil, Nalcor Energy, Statoil and Suncor Energy to provide shuttle tanker services for their East Coast Canada oil production.

These 15-year contracts, plus extension options, will initially be serviced by one of Teekay Offshore’s existing shuttle tankers, the Navion Hispania, and two to three third party-owned shuttle tankers currently operating in East Coast Canada, which will be chartered-in to Teekay Offshore’s Canadian affiliate located in St. John’s, Newfoundland, prior to the delivery of up to four shuttle tanker newbuildings. The Existing Tankers are Matea, Heather Knutsen and Jasmine Knutsen. Kometik is the forth, and is rumored to be for sale.

 Teekay Offshore will enter into shipbuilding contracts to construct three Suezmax-size, DP2 shuttle tankers with a South Korean shipyard for a fully built-up cost of approximately $365 million, with an option to order one additional vessel should a fourth vessel be required. The three firm vessels are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2017 through the first half of 2018.

Kometik for Sale?

Shuttle tanker Kometik is rumoured to be for sale. the vessel is 17 years old, and apparently there is some sort of disagreement amongst the ownership group. She is currently owned by a consortium of Oil companies as listed as A JOINT VENTURE OF MOBIL, CHEVRON, MURPHY

She was built by Samsung Heavy industries in 1997, and is managed by Canship Ugland.
As a Shuttle Tanker, She runs oil from Hiberina to Various refineries. She was a frequent caller in Halifax, while imperial Oil Was in operation.

Seapike

The tanker SeaPike spent yesterday at anchor. She moved to imperial oil this morning after the departure of Apollon. Built in 2009, she is German Flagged, and arrived from New Orleans.

Hector N from Texas

The Products tanker Hector N spent the weekend at anchor in the Basin, before moving to mperial oil. She arrived from Houston TX.

Built in 2009, She was known as King Edgar until December 2013. She was built in China, Currently registered in Panama, and owned and manged by Navios Tankers Management of Athens Greece.

Person falls into ship Hold

Reports on twitter are that a male fell into the hold of a ship. he reportedly missed the transition between ladders, and fell from the platform approximately 1 story to the bottom of the hold.

it is unclear which vessel was affected, It was considered a confined space rescue, which suggests it is the Sara Desgagnes which is tied up at pier 25, typically an out of the way place for Maintenance work to be performed. She arrived from Saint John, and Offloaded at Imperial Oil, before moving to Pier 25.

the injured person is reported to be conscious , breathing, complaining of back pain but not in any danger.
