Primus mad a stop for Melfi lines this morning. Launched in 1997 by Gdynia Shipyard in Poland, she is owned and managed by Hansa shipping of Germany. Built as Sea Parana, She has spent most of her life on multi year charters.

Black out Days For the New Yarmouth Ferry

South Coast Today is reporting that the new Yarmouth ferry is subject to blackout dates. The dates Were imposed by the city of Portland Maine, due to increased cruise ship traffic those days. The days are Aug 28, Sept 12, 21, 23, 24, 25, 30. On those dates the ferry cannot tie up in Portland – removing those dates from the schedule. Based on projections, the lost trips could end up costing NS tourism operators Close to a million dollars in lost revenue.

The Tall Ships are Coming in 2017! Maybe?

2017 is looking to be a banner year for Tallships – The event Next year, in Celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday will feature vessels from Both Sail training international, and Tall Ships America.

Both Fleets will get together in Boston June 17-22 2017. they then disperse to ports across the great lakes and Gulf of St Lawrence, before Rejoining in Quebec City for the Rendez-vous 2017 July 18-23. The ships then Travel to the “Canadian Race Start Port” July 28-31 before sailing for France on the 31st.

Hopefully the Canadian Race Start Port is Halifax. Some St John’s NB MP’s have been tweeting about tall ships, but it appears they may be part of the in between race program.
