Beyoncé and jay-z in town?


Probably not, but a yacht that was tied to them is currently tied up on the south side of Purdys Wharf.

In 2016 rumours were swirling that the Yacht Jamaica Bay was in Ireland chartered by the famous musical couple. That was never confirmed, though they are in known to have spent time a yacht Gattica Star. That vessel is owned by a Nigerian Oil Tycoon, who is currently reported to be hiding out on the boat.

Super Yacht at the Museum Wharf..

Brand new, she is on her delivery trip to Florida. The Hull was built in Norway and is made of carbon fibre. the Hullwas Shipped over to the yacht builder Palmer Johnston in Wisconsin. She is now on her delivery trip to florida. She currently is using her yard Hull Number as a name – PJ265, but will take the name Khalilah. Photo to follow.

Route Halifax Saint Pierre. Starts Tomorow.

Tomorrow marks the Start of the  Route Halifax Saint Pierre yacht race. Held Every second year, opposite the MarbleHead to Halifax Race. The Start is at noon, with the starting line near Sackville Wharf on the downtown Halifax waterfront (near Lat 44° 38.9’ N,Lon 63° 34.0’ W)
The finishing line will be between a flagpole with a red flashing light (Lat 46° 47.643′ N, Long 56° 09.560′ W) on the Frigorifique deep water wharf and the North Cardinal Buoy “Bouée du Flétan” with a white flashing light (Lat 46° 47.342′ N, Long 56° 09. 170′ W)
The french naval Patrol Boat Fulmar is in town for the race, and will be escorting participants. You can Follow the race progress With Yellow brick (Needs Flash)

Esperanza Real

The Esperanza Real, Tied up in Lunenburg, with a Newfoundland crew aboard. The vessel appears to be headed elsewhere for conversion.

The vessel was built in 1969 as Lady Janice in Georgetown, PEI. She operated as Winchester in the Newfoundland Coastal trade as a Ferry/cargo vessel, and was recently sold by her owner Ray Berkshire LTD of Arnold’s Cove, Newfoundland.

Before and After

Fishing Trawlers end up getting converted to all sorts of stuff. Take Cape Chidley. Built in Pictou in 1976 as the Esther Boyd for Canso Seafood, She fished until 2001, and was laid up in Lunenburg in 2009. Her Surveyed market price was $225,000us.

She evidently found a Buyer, As she is now the M/Y Yacht Hop, and configured as a transport yacht from the Caribbean to French Riviera by a Frenchman.

 

 

French Yacht Paolyre.

Designed by Joubert/Nivelt and built in aluminium by the OCEA Shipyard, Sables-d’Olonne, this 32m Super Yacht is custom-built. With its retro lines and Art Deco-style interior, it combines private and charter use. (Presumably you can charter it when the owner is not using it.)

PAOLYRE  has a maximum speed of 18.0 knots and a range of 4 000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Accommodation for 10 guests in 4 staterooms
