Baltic Leopard Slowly Loads.

The bulker Baltic Leopard used the dry calm last night to load product from the grain elevator. The Bulk commodity is likely moisture sensitive, so loading can only occur when there is no precipitation. – based on the available draft, there is alot of cargo remaining to load.

Baltic Leopard – Hold Cleaning and Load.

 

the Bulker Baltic Leopard arrived yesterday and took to the inner anchorage. the ship was seen with hatch covers open, suggesting the holds were being cleaned in preparation to load cargo

this morning the ship moved to Pier 27 to load product from the grain elevator.  Given the hold cleaning, its possible that product is actually grain.

Rt Hon Paul E. Martin for National Gypsum

a string of ships have been calling at Nation Gypsum to export the white mineral used in drywall. The latest is the CSL Trillum Class Self unloading Bulk Carrier Rt Hon Paul E. Martin.

Built in 2012, and registered in the Bahamas, she trades as part of the CSL Americas fleet, which is dedicated to international trade. The Cargo is likely bound for a Drywall plant in Baltimore.

Busy Day #3 – Three for fuel.

The bunkering tanker Algoma Dartmouth will be kept busy today with 3 vessels anchoring to top up their tanks.

First up is the Norwegian flagged, geared bulker, NordKap. She arrived from Brazil, and will likely sail for the St Lawrence, likely with a load of Bauxite for aluminum production. She is Due to Sail at 15:00. (She Sailed giving Port Alfred PQ as her destination – Home to Rio-Tinto Alcan)

Due at the Pilot station at 1500 is the Liberian flagged Crude oil tanker ALMI GALAXY, which arrived from Scapa Flow Scotland and spent the last couple of days at anchor in the approaches. Shes due to anchor at anchorage #1 (between Georges Is. and McNabs Is.) laden, she was required to enter port with  a tug escort, and will be bound for the refinery in Saint John NB. on departure. She sailed at 2245.

also due for fuel is the products tanker Navig8 Sirius. the marshal islands flagged ship is arriving at the pilot station at 1600 from Houston Texas, unladen with refined product. she is Due to sail at 0200

Interlink Levity at anchor

The Bulker Interlink Levity arrived yesterday and spent today at anchor for hull cleaning and Bunkers. she is scheduled to sail early afternoon tomorrow. She was built in 2014, and arrived loaded from Fairless Hills, a suburb of Philadephia, likely carrying coal into the lakes, for steel making.

RADCLIFFE R. LATIMER at Pier 25/26

The bulker RADCLIFFE R. LATIMER spent a few days tied up at Pier 25/26 before moving to National Gypsum Mid afternoon. built in 1978 as Algobay, she also was chartered to CSL from 94-97 as Atlantic Trader. She was rebuilt in China in 2008/09 and took her current name in 2012.

CSL Frontier sails from National Gypsum

CSL Frontier is no stranger to Nova Scotia waters. She was built as the Gypsum Centennial, specifically to trade out of the gypsum dock at Hantsport on the bay of fundy. As a result, she is built to a shallower draft, and is wider then most bulk carriers of her size. Painted Black, and Flagged in Barbados, she trades for CSL’s international arm.

Todays voyage was bound for Georgia.
