One Eagle

ONE Eagle returned today on the westbound leg of the EC5 Service, taking the place of ONE Cygnus at pier 41, which sailed this morning.

the Bird class ships are rated at 14026TEU and were built for NYK beginning in 2016. The bird class, was named after birds. ONE Cygnus was built as NYK Swan, but ONE SWAN was already taken, so the ship was named cygnus, after the Latin for Swan.

ONE Stork

ONE Stork made its first call to Halifax late this afternoon. at 140026TEU it is the largest vessel to call on The Alliance’s EC5 service.

The EC5 service has long been served by vessels in the 7000-8000TEU range, the largest vessels that can call on Fairview cove. In December, the Alliance announced upgrades to vessels beginning this April which would see 14,000-15,000 teu vessels added to the EC5 service.

Currently all of the listed new vessels on the EC5 service are named after Birds, Including ONE Hawk and ONE Eagle. These 14026TEU ships were built for NYK beginning in 2016.

at 14026TEU, these ships are the 5th largest to call on Halifax. The ports TEU size records are tracked in this post.

ONE Matrix – Another Magenta ship

ONE Matrix spent yesterday at Fairview cove. The second magenta colored ONE vessel to Call in Halifax. Given her lightly loaded condition, you can see the Magenta and White funnel striping quite clearly.

the ship was repainted in and renamed in March, so its fresh, and on its first trip out of refit. Infact, when I last looked at the schedule, the ship was still MOL Matrix.

the light load is likely due to the pandemic, with container volumes finally dropping off.

One Magnificence is Pink!

One Magnificence is a notable arrival as it is the first vessel to call in Halifax for ONE that is in the new ONE Branding – That is with the Magenta painted hull. ONE – short for Ocean Network Express, was formed in 2016 by the merger of the Container business of Japanese shipping lines NYK, MOL and K-Line

the Ship is the former MOL Magnificence, and the ship traded its MOL blue at its last drydocking. ONE will move its ships slowly to the new paint scheme as they are serviced.

MOL Motivator – turnover on EC5

The Alliance has been rotating vessels on its EC 5 service, with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines vessels coming into the rotation as of late. Other recent new callers have Included MOL Maxim, MOL Mission, MOL Maneuver and MOL Marvel. The ships are rated at 6724TEU and were built in 2010/2011, and carry the Marshall Islands flag.

MOL Paramount, MOL Partner, and MOL Paradise have been serving on the EC5 route for a while. Yantian Express, George Washington Bridge remain the only non MOL vessels on the Routes schedule.

MOL is part of ONE, formed as a merger of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and K Line’s container businesses.

Full House at the Container Piers.
