CCGS Alfred Needler (above) and IT Intrepid (below) both took to pier 9 for the holidays.
The Alferd Needler was required to take to pier 9 due to the piers being full at bio, with Hudson alongside undergoing work, and the Arrival of the Jean Goodwill.
Since arriving in May, IT Telecoms new cable ship IT Integrity has been undergoing fitout at Pier 9. The ship now looks to have cable handling gear installed, and the rear deck is considerably more cluttered then when the ship first arrived.
The Pure Car Truck Carrier Horizon Highway was towed into Halifax this morning by Siem Commander. The Horizon Highway tied up at Pier 9 with tug assistance.
The Horizon Highway Sailed from Southampton on the 9th, and looks to have lost power on the 15th, and drifted before regaining power, or being taken under town by another vessel on the 16th. It was suggested that the main engine was vapor locked.
the Siem Commander sailed from Halifax the morning of the 19th.
This is yet another case of Laid up Secunda vessels providing emergency assistance. Venture Sea was recently dispatched to tow the Golden Opal, a bulk carrier that became disabled in the Davis Straight after departing the Baffinland mine in Mile inlet bound for Immingham, England. Both those ships are now in Nuuk Greenland.
Wilson Monsoon arrived Sunday night from Scotland, to collect the unused anchor gear that was to be used to anchor the Deep Panuke field production platform in Mulgrave. Since they are no longer needed, they are presumably going back to Scotland.
Another Large offshore vessel, the Horizon Arctic arrived at pier 9. i have been told the vessel will be setting the anchors that will hold the Boa barge 34 when it arrives in Mulgrave.
the Horizon Arctic is the largest of three ships operated by Horizon Maritime. it was built by Vard in 2016, and operated as the Bourbon Arctic until Horizon acquired it in March of 2019.
the ship features a 308ton bollard pull, and her towing winches are rated to 500 tons.
the general cargo ship Wilson Mistral arrived just after midnight, and tied up at pier 9. Loaded with anchors and Chains, these will be installed in Mulgrave by the Horizon Arctic (due in Halifax July 6) to hold the Boa Barge in place with the Deep Panuke Production platform aboard.
the ship arrived from Montrose, Scotland, and is very small.
the ship is due to move to pier 27, likely for fuel, at 10pm tonight.
International Telecoms new Vessel IT Integrity arrived at pier 9 over the weekend. the cable ship is a Converted Offshore Supply Vessel, and its acquisition was announced in the beginning of April. the ship, compared to the rendering looks to be missing some equipment, so its likely going to spend some time alongside getting fitted out.
The Photo doesnt do it Justice, but Atlantic Osprey is completely dwarfed by the new Maersk Suppliers, both of which are here as part of the Sable offshore decommissioning. Maersk Maker has been in Halifax for a while, and was joined by Maersk Mobiliser. Mobiliser has been to Halifax before, as one of its first jobs was the the tow of the fire damaged Yantain express.
AS Laguna arrived at Pier 9 from Miami. It looked to be handling some cargo on deck located in the container stacks forward of the accommodation block. No idea what the cargo is however.
