The Horizon Highway Sailed from Southampton on the 9th, and looks to have lost power on the 15th, and drifted before regaining power, or being taken under town by another vessel on the 16th. It was suggested that the main engine was vapor locked.

the red area is the drift.

the Siem Commander sailed from Halifax the morning of the 19th.

This is yet another case of Laid up Secunda vessels providing emergency assistance. Venture Sea was recently dispatched to tow the Golden Opal, a bulk carrier that became disabled in the Davis Straight after departing the Baffinland mine in Mile inlet bound for Immingham, England. Both those ships are now in Nuuk Greenland.

Horizon Arctic

Another Large offshore vessel, the Horizon Arctic arrived at pier 9. i have been told the vessel will be setting the anchors that will hold the Boa barge 34 when it arrives in Mulgrave.

the Horizon Arctic is the largest of three ships operated by Horizon Maritime. it was built by Vard in 2016, and operated as the Bourbon Arctic until Horizon acquired it in March of 2019.

the ship features a 308ton bollard pull, and her towing winches are rated to 500 tons.

Wilson Mistral with Anchors.

the general cargo ship Wilson Mistral arrived just after midnight, and tied up at pier 9. Loaded with anchors and Chains, these will be installed in Mulgrave by the Horizon Arctic (due in Halifax July 6) to hold the Boa Barge in place with the Deep Panuke Production platform aboard.

the ship arrived from Montrose, Scotland, and is very small.

the ship is due to move to pier 27, likely for fuel, at 10pm tonight.

IT Integrity Arrives

International Telecoms new Vessel IT Integrity arrived at pier 9 over the weekend. the cable ship is a Converted Offshore Supply Vessel, and its acquisition was announced in the beginning of April. the ship, compared to the rendering looks to be missing some equipment, so its likely going to spend some time alongside getting fitted out.

Suppliers at Pier 9.

The Photo doesnt do it Justice, but Atlantic Osprey is completely dwarfed by the new Maersk Suppliers, both of which are here as part of the Sable offshore decommissioning. Maersk Maker has been in Halifax for a while, and was joined by Maersk Mobiliser. Mobiliser has been to Halifax before, as one of its first jobs was the the tow of the fire damaged Yantain express.

AS Laguna at Pier 9.

AS Laguna arrived at Pier 9 from Miami. It looked to be handling some cargo on deck located in the container stacks forward of the accommodation block. No idea what the cargo is however.

In the foreground, you can see the 250 cars that were dropped off by the PCTC Grand Diamond last week.
